Personally I love downtown Savannah, Georgia. In fact, I think it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Living only an hour away I used to love to drive up there on weekends in high school and shop. Now that i'm in college I have a new found love of Riverstreet. Here's why:

1) The charm of the harbor.

Not only is riverstreet lined with shops and restaurants, but it is also host of a great view. It's beautiful and inviting, and made from ballast stone from ships arriving from Europe over 250 years ago. For my birthday this past year, my boyfriend and I went to Rock's on The River at the Bohemian Hotel. It is a moderately priced and has something for everyone. The service was amazing, the food was delightful, and the view was even better. We opted to sit outside and watch the boats come and go. However, the later it got the more unpleasant being there became.

2) Riverstreet Sweets

Perfect. Nostalgic. Southern hospitality. You can get your favorite candy, home made fudge, something fresh baked, and even a glass bottled coke.

3)Local Music

We decided we weren't quite ready to go, and wanted to sit down and enjoy a drink. We picked one up and sat beside the harbor. There was a local man playing the sax so beautifully I'd say he'd sold his soul to the devil. To be honest it was that perfect moment I wanted. Turns out, we were sitting where the Riverboat docks. It pulled up playing Frank Sinatra and was all lit up like the fourth of July.

If there are two things I can't live without it's good friends and baking. Therapeutic is the best way to describe it. Remember when you were a kid and you got to play with play-dough in class? Baking (and sewing) give me the same feeling, I get to create something beautiful from nothing with my own two hands, and I consider that a gift. It is truly inspiring.
